Choosing a consultant or trainer is non-trivial.

Please check out Glenn Mazur’s credentials below, and also look through my case studies and experience. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss your project needs or have questions.

QFD is a highly adaptive method that inserts a sequence of tools and methods into your product development process. The #1 wish of many practitioners is for an efficient process that gives the most value for the effort they make. To accomplish this, your QFD should be tailored to the specific realities of your company, customers, competitors, technology, and products. There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach that works for everyone.

Developing the next generation product or some disruptive technological advance is another common reason why companies implement QFD. If such is your intention, be careful with consultants within your industry as they may be part of the old system you are trying to challenge, and may not be able to get you to think outside the "box."

Summarized below are some of the advantages that I can offer. Please click the panels (just beneath the photo) to expand/close the details.

and you feed him for a lifetime.

  • Internationally recognized authority on QFD, Glenn Mazur have been teaching ISO 16355 QFD, modern Voice of Customer analysis, Kansei Lifestyle QFD, Hoshin and other Quality topics since 1980, to businesses in the US and overseas.

As the executive director of the QFD Institute and the International Council for QFD, and Member of the Scientific Boards, Mazur is well versed with the entire revolution of QFD methodology — from the original 1960s Quality Chart (developed by Mr. Akira Takayanagi), the Classical House of Quality matrix (developed by Drs. Mizuno and Akao) and the 1980s truncated 4-phase model (4 house model that was ill adopted by non-Japanese consultants), through the current Modern Comprehensive QFD and Blitz QFD® and the latest ISO 16355 standards for QFD.

Mazur is convenor of the ISO 16355 QFD working group where international experts collaborate in developing and updating the current and future best practices, tools, and innovation in QFD new product development.

As such, Mazur is constantly on top of the current best QFD, implementation and training methods, and being able to offer which tool or method is most effective or less desirable for your particular situation.

Mazur studied each expertise directly with the masters —QFD with the founders Shigeru Mizuno and Yoji Akao, as well as with their most senior disciples, Tadashi Ohfuji, Terumichi Ono, Hisakazu Shindo, Noriharu Kaneko, Akashi Fukuhara, and Satoshi Nakui.

Mazur studied TQM with Dr. Deming, Value Engineering with Thomas Snodgrass who succeeded Larry Miles the founder of VE, AHP with Tom Saaty its creator, Kansei Engineering with Mituo Nagamachi its creator, Hoshin with Yoji Akao, Kaoru Shimoyamada, Kozo Koura, and Hisashi Takasu - all thought leaders, SPC with Jack ReVelle (chief statistician with Hughes Aircraft), TRIZ with Boris Zlotin and Alla Zusman, and new product development with C. Merle Crawford.

  • Since 1980 Mazur has consulted and trained hundreds of companies and project teams across many industry sectors — both in the US and overseas.

Please visit my “Clients” page and “Case Studies”.

Mazur’s extensive teaching experience also includes academic settings: teaching in Japan for over three years, teaching at the University of Michigan College of Engineering for ten years, and giving QFD lectures, guest speakership, and keynote addresses for the US and overseas university audiences.

Mazur has trained, taught, and consulted beside every Japanese QFD guru, including Professors Shigeru Mizuno and Yoji Akao (co-founders), Tadashi Ohfuji, Terumichi Ono, Hisakazu Shindo, Noriharu Kaneko, Akashi Fukuhara, and Satoshi Nakui.

  • Teaching others to teach is a critical part of installing a QFD system into a company that wants internal capabilities and a sustainable effort.

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for life" is indeed true. It is not enough to have a consultant do the work for you. You need to understand what is being done, and you must be able to sustain the effort over time. Your customers deserve that.

In 2000, Dr. Yoji Akao, one of the co-founders of QFD, authorized Mazur to develop advanced, up-to-date training programs for both practitioners and experts. The QFD Black Belt® program includes a train-the-trainer component for this purpose.

  • Mazur is readily available for consultation by Email.

Your inquiry will be responded within 24 hours, whether it is about QFD questions or issues that your business is facing.

Mazur’s training is available in a variety of modules that build on each other, are custom tailored to your organization, and can be implemented at a pace and a degree that makes sense.

In-house training is arranged in short modules and can be scheduled at the convenience of the client. Public QFD Green Belt® and QFD Black Belt® trainings are offered through the QFD Institute.

  • Publications are one indicator of the amount and quality of research being conducted, as well as acceptance by conferences, journals, and publishers.

Glenn Mazur has published numerous peer-reviewed papers, monographs, books, and book chapters, including all editions of the QFD Green Belt® and QFD Black Belt® training manuals.

I value the spread of ideas. In this spirit, you have permission to download my papers. Please see the “Case Studies” page, for detailed instruction.

  • Citation by other researchers is an indication of how well the consultant's work is admired and referenced by other experts in the field.
